If the weather has seemed a little chillier than usual lately, you’re not alone in thinking that. As cold fronts continue to make their way through the Bay Area this winter, head to one of Bayview’s many coffee shops to keep warm and enjoy this San Francisco neighborhood. Sip here:

Word. A Café

5114 3rd St.

You’ll get so much more than coffee at the new Word. A Café on Third Street. This recently opened café serves great coffee and a breakfast and brunch menu that customers rave about. If you’re hungry, try the Hot Lotana (two eggs and sausage with spicy seasoning) or the crab mac and cheese. If you stop by in the evenings, you may find the café hosting anything from comedy night to a reading of a play.

Vasquez Coffee Company

50 Mendell St., Unit 1

This women and minority-owned business serves fair-trade, organic coffee along with breakfast pastries, bagels, and artisan sandwiches. If it’s just too cold to leave the office, check out Vasquez Coffee’s catering service. With a pre-order, staff will bring coffee, supplies, and healthy snacks to you!

Road House Coffee Company

5191 3rd St.

While you may visit Road House for a cup of coffee, you may not be able to leave without a big slice of cake from the wide selection in the display case. Along with its baked goods, this local favorite has a reputation for its friendly staff and homey atmosphere.

Fox & Lion Bread

5273 3rd St.

This quiet café serves affordable, fresh food along with coffee that customers praise. Fox & Lion also is known for its excellent breakfasts—the avocado toast is especially popular—and sandwiches. You’ll also find delicious vegetarian options on the menu, and on Fridays, Fox & Lion serves up beer and pizza.

Ritual Coffee

Flora Grubb Gardens, 1634 Jerrold Ave.

This artisanal coffee house is a San Francisco favorite, and there’s a location within Flora Grubb Gardens. Shop plants and décor while sipping a cappuccino, savoring a pastry and visiting with neighbors!

1730 Yosemite Ave.

Greaser is brought to you by the great coffee folks at Snowbird and The Richfield, and provides the Bayview with a cute and cozy outpost with an adjacent parklet. If it’s not too cold, you can enjoy the day there with a friend or a good book.

Craftsman & Wolves

1598 Yosemite Ave.

Craftsman and Wolves is a contemporary patisserie, serving pastries, confitures, cakes, sandwiches and more! Pair with coffee, tea, hot cocoa and beer and wine! Delicious. We’ll meet you there.

You don’t have to go far in Bayview-Hunters Point to find a great cup of coffee to keep you warm during the winter months, and if you have time to linger, stay at one of these cafés for a meal too.
