San Francisco is alive along the Southeastern waterfront

Whether you’re feeling like a circus or sip of chardonnay, there is plenty to do in the Bayview this July. Relax with neighbors or test your own dare-devil spirt. However you’re feeling, there is an activity to suit the mood. Join together with your neighbors and do something for the greater good. Here’s our curated list of the best local things to do in San Francisco this summer.

Garden Party and Plant Sale

Saturday, July 13, noon-5 p.m.

Bay Natives Nursery

10 Cargo Way

Free

This monthly gathering features live music and free locally sourced food. Along with a relaxed vibe and beautiful surroundings, Bay Natives Nursery’s garden offer visitors the opportunity to learn about sustainable living and starting a garden. Kids will love feeding the goats and meeting the roosters, and everyone goes home with a free plant. The nursery also hosts a plant sale—keep in mind that fall planting season is just around the corner!

Wine Tasting

Every Friday, 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Gratta Wines

5273B Third St.

Items for purchase

No need to stay home on a Friday night. Gratta Wines, Bayview’s very own garage winery, hosts a wine tasting for the community at the end of every week. Wind down from the workweek with a glass of owner Barbara Gratta’s handcrafted wine and a snack off the small-plate menu. The wine bar opens at 5 p.m. on Fridays, and you can stay until 10 p.m. Don’t forget to pick up a bottle to go on your way out!

Summer Circus Festival

Sunday, July 28, 1 p.m.-4 p.m.

NOW Hunters Point

155 Jennings St.

Free

The circus comes to Bayview this weekend as the 8th annual Summer Circus Festival presents Circus Bella’s “Up in the Air: Relishing the Joy of Uncertainty” season finale. You’ll see acrobats fly through the air, enjoy the ringleader’s antics, and watch “Big Juggle,” the yearly full-company juggling act at this free event. The day also features a live band and an opportunity to test your own daring on a giant fun slide!

2019 Roller Revival

July 13, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Hunters Point Shoreline Park

Hunters Point Boulevard and Hawes Street

Free

It’s time to dust off those inline skates and head to Skate San Francisco’s Roller Revival, a four-day celebration of skating in San Francisco. Events will be held all over San Francisco, but the festival comes closest to home on July 13 with the first-ever Roller Revival in Hunter’s Point Shoreline Park. DJs will pump music into the crowd from two separate areas, so you can choose whether to skate to funk and soul or EDM/hip hop.

Volunteer at Heron’s Head Park

Saturday, July 12, 10 a.m.-noon

Heron’s Head Park

Jennings Street and Cargo Way

Free

After meeting your fellow clean and green enthusiasts at the picnic area near the parking lot, you’ll spend a few hours together beautifying Heron’s Head Park. Volunteers remove invasive species, water and plant, and mulch, all to help keep this park pristine. Wear sunscreen and clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty, and be prepared for a morning of work and fun. Email Recparkvolunteer@sfgov.gov to register.
