No need to trek around San Francisco to find a highly rated restaurant. Bayview has its own collection of eateries with near-perfect reviews on Yelp. Here are some of the best.

Huli Huli Hawaiian Grill

4100 3rd St.

Rated 4 ½ stars

Named after “Huli Huli Chicken,” a Hawaiian dish where the chicken is turned on the grill over and over, Huli Huli Hawaiian Grill offers excellent food and a unique approach to service. “Huli,” which means “turn” in Hawaiian, has a double meaning here. The restaurant employs people who are turning their lives from crime or addiction, and many live above the restaurant with mentors from Project Bayview. “This place is so good,” wrote Brittny R. from San Francisco in a Yelp review. “Not only are they serving up great food they have a wonderful mission supporting the Bayview community.” Customers also rave about the large portions, extensive menu, and low prices. Simply Delish

5698 3rd St.

Rated 4 ½ stars

Simply Delish chefs use fresh ingredients and cook food to order, and you’ll find everything from Thai dishes to hamburgers to BBQ ribs here. Brian C. from San Jose described the food as “tasty dishes with quality ingredients, cooked just right” in a Yelp review, and he also praised the restaurant’s atmosphere, value, and large portions. “Kids and adults all loved it!” he wrote. Other diners love the curries—and the restaurant’s ample parking. For the full Yelp review, click here.

Mangiare

301 Executive Park Blvd Ste A

Rated 4 ½ stars

This new restaurant promotes its menu as one of the most expansive in the area, and it doesn’t disappoint. Yelp reviewer Joey F. from San Mateo describes it as a “hidden gem” that “takes care of business by providing a great atmosphere, food, and spectacular service.” Mangiare is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, and it always offers a Japanese seafood bar, daily specials, sake, wine, and craft beers on tap. Resident artist Vasco Morelli operates a full art studio at Mangiare, and diners can view (and purchase) his work and see in-progress commissions. See Yelp’s complete review here.

Goldie’s Oakwook BBQ

Rated 5 stars

One Yelp reviewer notes that Goldie’s is the “gold standard” of barbecue, and fellow fan Sabrina B. of Mill Valley provides more mouthwatering details. “I never had Goldie’s before but after seeing all the amazing reviews I decided to go with them,” she wrote in a Yelp review. “The ribs were fall off the bone tender, the brisket melted in your mouth, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The mac and cheese was to die for! I definitely made the right decision.” Azar Jones, whose mom Goldie founded the restaurant in 1980, recently reopened it as a successful online barbecue catering business. That means there’s no restaurant to sit down in for a meal, but Goldie’s caters for all sizes of gatherings. For more customers’ Yelp reviews, click here.

Tato

4608 3rd St

Rated 4 ½ stars

You know a restaurant is good when a recent reviewer described how he loved his meal but struggled with “food envy” toward all the brunch dishes he didn’t order! Tato’s menu is grounded in the flavors of Mexico City, and the menu offers plenty of vegetarian and meat choices. Tato recently added Saturday and Sunday brunches to its dining hours, which already are a hit with customers. “Looking for an affordable brunch option with bottomless mimosas and no wait?” Jess Y. from San Francisco wrote on Yelp, “Look no further than Tato! Love their chorizo scramble which is made with none other than Molinari chorizo—so savory and flavorful!” For more Yelp reviews, click here.
