There’s nothing like springtime to get us out and about, soaking up the many pleasures offered in the Bayview area. Happily, a lot is going on in the next few months, and there’s no time like now to enjoy a beautiful, invigorating spring day. A couple of events you won’t want to miss:
Tuesdays blah and nondescript? Far from it! Community Tuesdays are extra-special, as Radio Africa & Kitchen showcases local music, arts and culture. It’s free, but for a very modest $10 (plus tax), you can enjoy a two-course prix fixe meal, with seasonal menu options accommodating all dietary needs. Tuesdays 5-9 p.m., with free Wi-Fi. Radio Africa & Kitchen is the brainchild of Chef Eskender Aseged, an Ethiopian who’s worked in the Bay Area since the late ‘80s. Spring is a great time to explore your gardening skills, and you can get a free plant to start you off at the Bay Natives Nursery Garden Party, the second Saturday of every month, noon-5 p.m. The next event is this Saturday, March 11! Celebrate nature’s renewable gifts with live music and free locally sourced food and beverages. Bring the kids so they can feed goats, make friends with chickens, see butterflies and hummingbirds, and learn something about sustainable living. Then go home and start your urban garden with a California native plant from Bay Natives, 10 Cargo Way.
P.S. Don’t forget to “Spring Forward” this weekend! Set your clock ahead one hour starting at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 12.
