It’s not your imagination – Bayview seems to be the hottest San Francisco neighborhood right now when it comes to new openings and big announcements for our much-loved community. With two more new businesses on the way, we thought we’d break down the latest and greatest happenings around the neighborhood.
The wait for a grocery store here in Bayview is about to be over. Duc Loi, a family-owned supermarket specializing in a blend of Asian and Latin American groceries, will open in just a few short weeks. Expanding from its original location in the Mission District, Duc Loi will occupy a 14,000 square-foot space on Third Street, once home to Fresh & Easy. Offering a variety of healthy, cultural food and produce, it’s going to be a welcome addition.
If you haven’t already heard, longtime Bayview resident and professional football player, Desmond Bishop and his wife Greeta, are planning to open a new restaurant in Mendell Plaza called Bishop’s Burgers. According to Hoodline.com, the new burger joint will open in the “long-vacant 700-square-foot building located at 4801 Third St., covered in murals commissioned by SF Art Everywhere.” Right across the street from Bayview Opera House, Bishop’s Burgers will bring burgers, shakes and breakfast options when they open next summer.
In addition to what’s coming soon, we’ve seen some great places open recently including include Seven Stills Brewery & Distillery, Laughing Monk Brewery and Artis Coffee all at UrbanPointSF, and The Den by Craftsman and Wolves. According to Eater SF, “Bayview’s Third Street has been on fire this year, with restaurant sales-tax revenues growing 135 percent in just the last year.”
We want to see your favorite spots around town. When you’re out and about, tag #TheSFShipyard and #Bayview for a chance to be featured here on our blog.
